Ailerons and Tailplane

  

March 2014

Volunteers have cleaned off 19 years of dust and spider webs!

 

Metal fittings have been removed for grit blasting, crack detection and inspection.

 

All surfaces have been sanded down and local repairs have been made where ply skinning had detached. Aileron cables will need replacing.

 

May 2014

The fittings have been removed. So far nothing serious has been found. The exterior surfaces have been sanded down. Local glue failures have been repaired.

 

February 2015

Ailerons have now been stitched and taped  and are ready to paint.

 

July 2015

The tailplane has been taped. Ailerons and tailplane have now been painted white and are ready to install.

 

May 2016

Ailerons and tail plane. READY TO FIT.

 

 

Rudder  

 

May 2014 

The fabric covering has been removed to allow internal inspection.

Generally the rudder is in good condition. The fittings have been removed. The rudder control horn is excessively corroded and a new item is being made.

  

February 2015

The rudder is now stitched and taped and is ready for painting.

 

July 2015

The rudder has now been painted white and is ready to install.

 

May 2016

READY TO FIT

 

 

Elevators

 

May 2104

The fittings have been removed. So far nothing serious has been found. The exterior surfaces have been sanded down. Local glue failures have been repaired.

 

February 2015

The elevators have now been stitched and taped and are ready for painting.

 

May 2016

The fully refurbished elevators have been painted. READY TO FIT.
